Rocket Lab is boasting its latest spacecraft has ended up exactly where it was meant to be.
The New Zealand-US company launched R3D2 from Mahia Penuinsula for the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency on Friday.
It was carrying a "a prototype reflect array antenna" CEO Peter Beck said could one day lead to a space-based internet system.
Beck says he is very proud of his team.
"It's wonderful to be flying such machines for such prominent customers. It really marks the continuation of our commercial service into orbit, as only the second orbital launch provider in the world, privately, to have done it."
Peter Beck says R3D2 has been delivered to precisely the right location.
It's the 25th satellite Rocket Lab has put into space in four orbital launch
